Adding SEO friendly descriptions to a website

Adding SEO friendly descriptions to a website can have a positive affect to their search rankings, although there is so much that goes into a good SEO strategy that you are missing out on. SEO is not a one metric game, you can't just write content with keywords and expect to see a consistent ranking increase for each website you do it on. Having good content is definitely a part of any good SEO strategy, but being able to format it with the right html markup and perform good keyword research is just as important.

The best metric to track SEO results with is organic site visitors, install a analytics tool, I recommend Google Analytics and track the organic search traffic. If the site gets more organic search traffic it's probably ranking better. Although sometimes external factors can make this metric less valuable, for example a seasonal business might get more search traffic at the same time every year. In this case you can use a position tracker and simply select a few keywords to track daily (you should be doing both though). If you search for SEO position trackers you will find many exist.

If you start selling "SEO Friendly" descriptions more often I urge you to learn more about the industry and invest your own money to figure out a strategy that works. There's so many freelancers today that sell SEO without knowing anything about it and it hurts the industries reputation. I have had countless clients tell me they purchased a "SEO Friendly" website and when I look at it I can instantly tell they got ripped off because there was no SEO work performed. The guy who hired you seems to have very little knowledge as well.
